Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up to the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:18-20
Hows that for faith? These guys had enough faith in Christ to take their friend to the rooftop, and lower him through a hole right smack in front of Jesus!!! Could you imagine being the paralyzed man coming face to face withe God? Wow!! What happened? Jesus forgave his sins write there on the spot. No judging, no questioning, no money, just faith in Christ, period. If I was an atheist I would really consider my place in life after reading that verse. Who wouldn’t!
This scripture really hit me today basically because He is telling us He is all we need. Jesus, faith in Jesus is all we need today, for we can cast all cares upon Him and take His yolk and rest. This invitation from the creator of all things is simple, faith in Him, period. When He says faith in Him, He means Him alone also. Not faith in some religious laws and customs, not faith in Mohammad, nor Joseph Smith, and I no this is gonna be a shock to some, but not even faith in Mary, Jesus own mother. Faith in Jesus, no one else.
I mean read this scripture carefully, the men lowered the mat in front of who, yup, that’s right, Christ. They didn’t ask His mom if it was OK, and it sure wasn’t Joseph(the cult leader) Smith they lowered the mat in front of. It was Jesus, the one and only God in human flesh sent to save us from the grips of hell. Sound harsh? Yes, because Christ is what our faith is basedon, and the love of God our father. He loved us so much that he sent His only son, how awesome is that!
I do realize I will probably get some hate mail on this one, but that’s OK, because you only hate on Jesus when your sins are the center of your life and not Him. I’m not perfect, true story, but I used to pretend I was perfect. Everything I did consisted of me being perfect, a perfect mess without any hope and an emptiness the devil was glad to be apart of. Today, I don’t pretend to be perfect, not even close! I’m a weak man and that’s why today I chose to go the distance like the guys lowering the mat through the roof, to meet Jesus.
Thanks for reading!!!!! Be Blessed!!!!!!!
